About: Swiss Breed Horses
Swiss Warmblood Sporthorses are also referred to as Einsiedler horses, taking the name from the Benedictine Monastery where they were bred in the 10th century. The most important contributions to the Swiss bloodline have been made by Anglo-Norman animals.
Most of the Swedish Warmbloods were used for the cavalry during WWII, and, when the war ended, the Swiss government bought 500 Swedish animals hoping the new horses would breed with theirs.
