A pattern of extremely selective breeding has enabled those strong genes to be passed down over the ages, and given us the contemporary Hanoverian. Modern Hanoverians are bred to be more versatile companions and perform very successfully in competition as hunters, jumpers, or equitation show horses. Hanoverians truly run the gamut as far as competitions go.
