About: the Irish Sporthorse Breed
Ireland has a well-founded reputation for breeding excellent horses. This is because of Ireland’s rich history in agricultural communities. Each family would have their own selectively bred line of horses.
The Irish Sporthorse came into existence as a bloodline through mixing Irish Draft horses and English Thoroughbred horses. Because of the mix, these beautiful animals are excellent at jumping over fences. The Irish Draft part of their blood gives them the safe-footing every rider wants in their horse, and the English Thoroughbred part of their blood gives them the free-action movement present in every good eventing horse.
